Surveying One of the Gold Coast’s Earliest Suburbs
Labrador is one of the earliest developed parts of the Gold Coast, with land fronting the Broadwater first purchased and subdivided in 1878, when 139 acres of what was then known as Southport North were surveyed and divided into 19 selections for sale. That early subdivision pattern still shapes parts of the suburb today, and many of the retro style homes built through the 1950s are now being renovated or replaced as younger buyers move in. Older allotments in Labrador often need a boundary survey to reestablish original property lines before building work begins, particularly where early survey pegs have been lost or where a block backs onto more recent high rise development.
